Backlight display:A backlight is a form of illumination used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). As LCDs do not produce light themselves - unlike for example Cathode ray tube (CRT) displays - they need illumination (ambient light or a special light source) to produce a visible image. Backlights are used in small displays to increase readability in low light conditions such as in watches, and in computer displays and LCD televisions to produce light in a manner similar to a CRT display.
Display resolution:The number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels: for example, "1024 × 768" means the width is 1024 pixels and the height is 768 pixels. The higher the number of pixels, the sharper the image.

For television, the original screen ratio for broadcasts was 4:3. In the 2000s, 16:9 TV displays came into wide use. They are typically used in conjunction with high-definition television (HDTV) receivers, or Standard-Definition (SD) DVD players and other digital television sources.
